With passion, the 9th Gyeonggi-do Assembly realizes happiness for the 13 million residents of Gyeonggi-do. A warm breeze of hope is opening a period of happiness in Gyeonggi-do. The center of Korea, Gyeonggi Province has been developing ceaselessly. Behind the brilliant road, the Gyeonggi-do Assembly has made every effort to implement policies for residents and has been fostering a refreshing breeze.
The Gyeonggi-do Assembly, first established in 1956 with 45 electoral district representatives, is currently in its ninth assembly and is developed into the largest second-tier legislative body in Korea with a total of 128 members. Recently, the assembly has been leading the development of Korean local governments by building a coalition with the executive branch for the first time in nation. The Gyeonggi-do Assembly exists only for public welfare and for the people of gyeonggi-do. The gyeonggi-do assembly exists to identify the needs of residents, to actualize their implementation for public convenience, and to realize the values of true public welfare through principles, common sense, communication, and harmonization. The Gyeonggi-do Assembly always considers the happiness of residents.
Accordingly, we enact resident-oriented ordinances to improve the lives of residents and public welfare. The Gyeonggi-do Assembly always considers the lives of residents. The Assembly examines the necessity and appropriateness of bills collected from the residents and for confirmation after careful deliberation. We make every effort to handle petitions submitted by the public so as to protect the rights and interests of all residents. The Assembly makes every effort to carry out active, upright legislative practices, engraving the pure objectives of the Assembly into our hearts so as to serve, people as guiding hand, to listen to the voices of the people, and to diligently and warm-heartedly attend to public welfare.
The second half term of the 9th Gyeonggi-do Assembly, in carrying out public-oriented activities, is preparing to embark on a warm period of happiness. It is comprised of assembly chairman jung gi-yeol, vice chairman kim do-young, vice chairman yeom dong-sik, and 128 members. The members in 31 cities and counties of Gyeonggi Province form 11 standing committees and two special committees that oversee the ideal direction of Assembly administration research and site visits. We will enforce decentralization only for the safety of residents and realize trustworthy coalition through cooperation and solidarity with a passionate spirit for people. We will implement public welfare that can resolve class inequality.
Moreover, we will actively support job creation by expanding economic participation to the socially disadvantaged and by creating an environment suitable for business. We will foster a Gyeonggi-do of high standards and cultural arts so as to increase the happiness index of residents.
