The Gyeonggi-do Assembly,
A stepping-stone to happiness
Grass-roots politics begins here at Gyeonggido Assembly.
Launched in 1956, the Gyeonggido Assembly has grown into the largest regional assembly in the Republic of Korea, with 142 seats in the current 10th assembly.
With policies committed to improving the residents’ welfare, the 10th Gyeonggido Assembly has led reforms of regional assemblies, while proving its operational efficiency.
On behalf of the residents, we check and oversee the executive body.
We deliberate and decide on budgets, preventing waste of budget through rational allocation and thorough verification. We audit administrative affairs, identifying the exact operational status of the Gyeonggido government and requesting corrective measures or proposing alternative solutions for the government to work better.
We establish ordinances as the laws of Gyeonggido and amend or abolish them in accordance with changes in circumstances.
Under the ideas of balance, win-win, cooperation and coexistence, we focus on improving the residents’ welfare by actively reflecting their input on operation of the Gyeonggido government.
The 10th Gyeonggido Assembly consists of 142 members, including chairman Jang Hyun Kuk and vice chairmen Jin Yong Bok and Moon Kyeong Hee, who are devoted to improving residents’ welfare and shaping up an effective resident-centered assembly.
Representing 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggido, the members work in 12 standing committees and 2 special committees, proposing the right direction for Gyeonggido government administration through professional researches, examinations, and on-site visits.
Under the principles of the Assembly of Respect and Participation, the Assembly of Communication and Empathy, and the Resident-Centered Assembly, we will always serve as a stepping-stone, humbly listening to the voices of our residents with an open mind.
We are striving to ensure safety and stable livelihood for our residents amid difficult times by organically collaborating with the executive body, which led to establishment of a joint response system against the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and enactment of the country’s first ordinance for emergency cash payment.
By actively making on-site visits, we will reach out to every corner of our regions to stand by our residents at difficult times.
We will play our part in promoting residents’ happiness by keeping our promises through trustworthy legislative activities. We will keep on enhancing our legislative capacity by actively making on-site visits and removing irrationalities from existing systems.
We will actively listen to the residents’ voices through the assembly portal, SNS channels, and local counseling centers.
